This guitar is an example of how one can completely change the look of their guitar from a plain Jane to an exciting new look and feel. Origionally this guitar was finished in metallic wine red color including the headstock. The neck needed new frets and a complete overhaul as did the body.
The restoration included applying a new 5A quilt maple laminate in a press to the top of the guitar body and re routing all cavities. Once the body work was completed to the top edge and prepped for finish the new sunburst color was applied and the body was finished with approx. 18 coats of catalized polyurathane finish, wet sanded and polished. Similarly, the neck was stripped to the bare wood, new frets installed, sanded smooth and color applied. A new decal was needed for the headstock and the serial # had to be added back to the back of the headstock. Neck had to also be refinished ( high gloss headstock and satin ultra smooth finish on the back of the neck. After all finishing work was completed, guitar had to be re assembled, re wired complete with a new tortise shell pickguard to complete the look. This is an example of what you can do with an old guitar that you are tired of looking at and playing. This restoration gave the customer a completely new looking guitar, while saving the origional guitars familar feel and sound. Now it is something to look forward to taking out of the case to play.
